Anxiety attacks are terribly uncomfortable. A better understanding of what they are and why they occur can help you get better control of them.

Essentially, they're a sign that your body's anxiety alarm bells aren't working correctly. Your body reacts as if you're in a life or death situation at times when you're completely safe. A racing heartbeat and sweaty palms might cause your brain to start thinking you're in danger as well. And your thoughts about catastrophic things happening will only fuel your body's response.

Fortunately, learning how to control your cognitive and physiological responses can help reduce the severity and frequency of panic attacks. Here are some things that can help you manage your panic attacks better.
