Why your personality may change in the presence of different people
| | Verywell Mind expert, Amy Morin, LCSW, answered: | It's normal to act differently when you're around different people. But, that doesn't necessarily mean you are being fake or that you aren't being true to yourself. It may just be that different people bring out different aspects of your personality. It also might be that you're respecting boundaries with those around you. You might use different language when speaking to your grandmother as compared to a conversation with your college buddies. Or, you might talk more about health-related issues when you're with a friend who enjoys fitness. If, however, you notice that you're losing sight of your values or morphing into the person you think others want you to be, you may want to figure out why you're prone to people-pleasing. Clarifying your values and setting healthy boundaries could be key to letting the "real you" shine through. | | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to the Healthy Mind newsletter.
