Thankfully, you can easily find out if an academic institution is properly accredited by doing a brief amount of research online.

The other thing to consider with these types of degrees is that there are some professions that require a person to have a fair amount of hands on experience before they can qualify for an entry level job. If you are studying online to become a nurse or law enforcement officer, it is a good idea to find a way to obtain a little bit of work experience while you are working on your certification.
